Influence

Hello and Happy Monday!

Recently, I’ve had different emails and conversations with others and they’ve said that I have somehow inspired/ influenced them. Whether it be challenging them to grow {in their faith or thinking} or possibly in their fitness goals. I won’t lie, I NEVER in a million years would have thought I would have an influence on someone.

If you’ve followed my blog, you know that I do quite a few posts under the “My Life” tab on the right hand side. These posts are based on things that I am going through, learning or things I’ve gone through in the past. These posts tend to be the “hardest” ones to write, since they hit so close to home, but I also have received the most feedback from them. I’m amazed at how many struggles, or things I am going through, others can relate to.

Going back to the topic……When I received the emails, I stopped in my tracks. Wait, me? Influence someone? I never really thought little ‘ol me would have any sort of impact. I have tried my best to write posts that would inspire people, but I guess I never heard a lot of feedback so I didn’t think they made much of a difference. It’s funny how even in the midst of quietness, there are things working……

Reading from various blog readers that I have challenged/ influenced them was eye opening. Granted, I have always wanted to do this, but actually hearing that I DO was so humbling. In the midst of living life and just “doing my thing”, I was influencing people and didn’t even realize it. I won’t lie, knowing that people look up to me makes me think twice about everything I do/ say.

In my day to day life, I try to have a positive outlook on life and be encouraging to people as much as possible.Yes, I realize I fail many times. Life isn’t always rainbows and butterflies but I want to be one of the people to brighten someone’s day, give a hug or smile when needed, or be a positive role model. Goodness knows we have enough “bad ones” out there on tv and in the limelight.

People may be watching you at work/ school/ church/ on your blog, are you using your influence for good?

Gals that are reading this, if you are one of the people who have emailed, thank you. You have made my heart swell with gratitude and brought new perspective to everything I do and say.

I’m looking forward to reading your comments on these answers. We are all works in progress and I think it’s important to see the areas we need to work on.  Thanks for stopping by and visiting me today!

Pretty Peach

Yup, you read the title right! Who knew that I would like peach so much?! I recently got some Melon Berry cardstock and ribbon, just so I could own some peach-like color. I didn’t think I would like it, but I have been pleasantly surprised! I’m really digging the ribbon- I’ll have to play with the cardstock tomorrow. WAY back in the day my mom’s wedding color was peach. I must say that I scoffed that she had such an atrocious color for her wedding. However, if you pair it right, it doesn’t look half bad! Now I wouldn’t have that as MY wedding color, but it’s not as bad as I thought. ;)
As most of you know, I’m going to the CHA SuperShow in July. I’ll be working at the DeNami Design booth, just like I did in Anaheim. We have been busy planning and sketching for the booth. We have lots of ideas floating around- they are all so exciting! Even though it’s four months away, I know they are going to fly by. Lots and lots of work needs to be done before this big event. However, I’m super excited- especially since I’ll get to meet some more crafting/ blogging friends! Super excited that I’ll get to meet the amazing Sarah Martina Parker. :) Anyone else planning on attending?
In closing I have a quick question for you…. do you like that I post almost daily? Sometimes I wonder if you get sick of hearing what I have to say or checking out my new cards. Now be honest! Should I still post often, or should I space them out? Let me know your thoughts….
‘Night girlies!

Words

It’s bound to happen….someone says something hurtful to you and the words cut like a knife. It may have been in your childhood, or quite possibly even a few days ago. Whether it be a sibling, spouse, parent or friend, just about all of us have encountered this sometime in our life.

This happened recently to me. I won’t go into all the details, but this is far from the first time this has occurred in my life. In the past, when this has happened, I’ve been able to forgive the person who wronged me and moved on. Granted, I may have forgiven the people, but that doesn’t mean their words don’t still replay in my mind.

I’m the type of person that takes things to heart. Yes, I have a sense of humor and can take jokes- I dish them out, so I can take them. However, when things are said about my character, or lack thereof, those are the things that get me thinking. Granted, the person who said them may have apologized (or sometimes they don’t), but I still think about the things that were said. That’s where I am right now….

The most recent hurtful remarks happened seven days ago. The things said have made me reevaluate some of the most important things in my life. If this happens over and over again, am I being a pushover if I continue to allow it to happen?

*sigh* Not going to lie, this is a tough place to be.  You know I value your thoughts and opinions- please feel free to leave a comment.

Thanks for letting me spill and ask for advice. You guys are awesome. :)

Miss You Elephant

Hello there!
I have a card to share that I created ages ago. It was sitting as a draft for the longest time- I figured I would share it with you all today. Amazingly enough, even though I created this a few months back, I still think it’s adorable. Why the surprise? Well, my crafting style changes and some of the things I’ve created in the past aren’t items I’m exactly proud of. It’s humbling, and also embarrassing, to look back at some of the things I created before and see how far I’ve come. Ah, one of the great things about blogging….

I have such a soft spot for this cute Elephant. He is fun to color, but he also works great for paper piecing!  Since he is on the smaller side (the wood it’s on is 1¾ x 2¼), he is perfect to stamp on your patterned paper scraps!

Did you notice the shiny letters? I stamped them, colored them in and then added Crystal Lacquer on top. It’s super easy to do and has amazing results!
I’m hoping to get some time in the next few days to post some pictures from my birthday last week. My girlfriends got me to go outside my comfort zone and they have pictures to prove it. :)
I hope you all are having a great start to your day. Talk with you soon!
